Is apparently not a valid reason to buy a car.
Anyway, I succesfully started my of new year’s resolution of buying more cars this year!
It’s a little 208 GTI, again. Black, with red and black interior, JBL sound system, digital radio, and a panoramic moonroof.
It’s got some scratches on the passenger side wheels and rear fender flare, but I can fix that. It’s also missing the trunk cover, but nothing too bad.
It’s from 2015 and has 32.000km, so it’s the newest car I’ve ever owned :)

I think I like it! Gonna have to google more pics though since these are entirely foreign (sorry) to me.

that looks like a fun little car :)

I really like these and wish we got them here in the US.
![]() 01/04/2018 at 14:47 |

It’s a Fiesta sized car, it’s too small to have any market there.

Front license plate makes it lose all its character sadly.

And here I was thinking that Phil was only supposed to come out in February.

You kept the O.Z. wheels from the last time around, right?
![]() 01/04/2018 at 14:52 |

Congrats! I like how these look. I’m a fan of happy cars.
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:28 |

A 208 always looks happy (and a bit goofy). Congrats on the new car, do you have the same plan for this one as for the red one?
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:30 |

Well there was at least one of those in the US :)
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:32 |

I’d say limited market, I mean they have the fiat 500
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:33 |

Hey it’s a completely different car! This one is black :)
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:34 |

I’ll post pictures when I’ll have it home

Yeah, this is True for a lot of cars... My former rx-8 comes to mind
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:35 |
|
Sure I did :)
It’s the first thing I plan on doing
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:37 |

Thanks!
Depends on the market, this one has all the options I wanted on the first one, but red just looks better. I can’t have a red one as long as my neighbor owns my old 208
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:39 |

Tennessee has no front plate which is reaalll nice. Sadly our normal plates ar not that great looking.
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:39 |

Thanks! Yeah there are so many angry cars out there, it’s refreshing to see a happy face for once

‘ I can’t own the same car as my neighbor, even though I want one’ -Almost every car guy ever
A friend of mine once told me his dad bought the same car as their neighbor, just to mess with the neighbor. Which is a pretty expensive joke.
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:40 |
|
It is! I had the same one in red last year, sold it to my neighbor cause I’m a greedy bastard :)
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:42 |

I kind of like it, depends on the car you put it on though
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:43 |

What makes matter worse is that it used to be my car :)
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:49 |

If it get the blue IS-F its getting the Gadsen Flag plate as well as yellow brake calipers.
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:50 |

Blue and yellow, I dig it
![]() 01/04/2018 at 15:52 |

Its a great color combo when there is not a redneck standing there.

You’ll need to change the caption from “Don’t tread on me” to “no step on snek”

It would actually be best to replace the graphic, too. :)
I’m sure any changes would be frowned upon by the authorities, of course...

Hahaha, that makes it slightly worse

Pretty much haha. As my insurance guy said yesterday, “You’ve been thinking of getting a new car for a year now” so I’ve had plenty of time to think of everything .
![]() 01/04/2018 at 16:11 |
|
haha - I’m getting a new (to me at least) car in May and I think I’ve spent half of my waking hours the last 6 months thinking about what to get, without deciding anything, so I get it.
![]() 01/04/2018 at 16:12 |
|
What are you thinking about getting? Is this to replace the GS?
![]() 01/04/2018 at 16:15 |
|
Yes - it’s a lease that’s up in May, so I have to do something.
There’s like 20 cars on the ‘possible’ list, and that’s just new cars. Absolute requirements are 4 doors with plenty of room for car seats in the back and fun to drive. Basically can’t have *less* back seat room than the GS.

Lol i was going to say my local dealer has 2017 RX350 F Sports for 20% off lol
![]() 01/04/2018 at 16:21 |

LOL my wife just leased one (non-F Sport) and she loves it. Not what I want though - has to be a car for me.

I was expecting an Opel Adam S after the ‘Ring adventure. Are you taking it to Wales?
![]() 01/04/2018 at 16:31 |

Im ending up with the ISF over the RC for the same reason. The RC is super super nice but it doesn’t have the *it* factor I wa s looking for. The RCF would check the box but I dont have $50k for a new one.
![]() 01/04/2018 at 16:32 |
|
I ordered one for the Passat and it’s somewhere in my room.
![]() 01/04/2018 at 16:35 |
|
Yeah, but the IS-F is a sweet car - a lot more ‘it’ than an RC.
I’d love a GS-F, but prices are ridiculous. I do plan to drive it, and maybe I could find a used one, who knows? A ton of other cars to look at though, too.
![]() 01/04/2018 at 16:39 |
|
Apparently the RCF is down to 45k. Dang. I would love a GSF to but for some reason the ISF is holding all of its value. I don’t understand why after seeing the deprecation on the RC. I guess the GS is not deprecating though.
![]() 01/04/2018 at 16:47 |
|
RCF or RC F sport? I thought the RC-F was in the 60's, or are you finding them used at that price?
2016 GS-F’s seem to be right around $60k. Still too much $.
![]() 01/04/2018 at 16:48 |
|
I just saw some 2015 and 2016 RCF for sale for $45-60k!
![]() 01/04/2018 at 16:48 |

Nah, the only Opels I’d consider are the GT, speedster, or manta.
I’m taking the Pajero to Wales, it’s better in case of sudden sheep on the road :)
![]() 01/04/2018 at 16:56 |
|
$45k seems like a good price for the RC-F, and a nice haircut off of an original sticker that had to be $65-70k.
I’ve never looked at that one, 4 doors is a hard requirement for me-
![]() 01/04/2018 at 17:08 |
|
Another German market car you’re importing into France?
![]() 01/04/2018 at 17:10 |
|
Yeah i thought 4 door was a hard requirement but then thought about my life and went “nah”. RC350 just wasn’t the right car. Can you think of any reason why I should spend 35k on a 2011 ISF and not wait and spend 40k on a 4 year newer car? Is it just me or dos the ISF have ore presence?
![]() 01/04/2018 at 17:22 |
|
Yeah, but I have a 16 month old, and my wife rides in the back whenever we go up to Wisconsin with him, so it’s a firm one for me.
I can only think of two reasons, and they’re not good:
- it feels weird to pay $35k for a 6 year old car
- newer = less maintenance and repair headaches, more warranty
I think if you get good service records, CarFax, etc. that helps alleviate what would bug me.
But as a car, yeah, I like the IS-F a lot better than the RC F-sport. More character, more V-8, and fairly uncommon.

Yep, it’s just too interesting not to

Lol I wish I had more of a envious income but it takes the 2 of us to make 2/3 of the average income for a family in our city. It’s pretty wealthy so it makes It feel a little harder but of course we’ve been working for 6 months and bought a house in that time.
